Stop Quitting the Gym in Week 3: The Workout Ladder

Does your gym plan have an answer for the day you can't give it the whole evening?

If the only option is the full visit, a late finish at work leaves you choosing between that and nothing.

The plan only works on good days. A busy day exposes the missing option. Then skipping today becomes a reason to abandon the week.

What is the minimum that still counts for you?

Define a minimum workout beforehand: a version you can do on your worst ordinary day that still counts as keeping the commitment.

Choose your own activity and stopping point. When the normal session won't fit, use that agreed smaller version, mark the commitment kept, and return to the next planned session.

Hypothetically, someone might choose 10 minutes. That's a personal scheduling choice, with no claim about fitness results.

The minimum isn't punishment or a reason to exercise through illness or injury. Anyone with a health condition or injury should follow their doctor's guidance.

Start with the broader idea of a routine that survives bad days.

Hypothetical before: Someone plans only full gym visits. Work runs late, they skip, and they write off the week.

Hypothetical after: With the same late finish, they use their preselected short version. They mark it kept and return at their next planned session.

If every disrupted routine needs rebuilding, The Execution Bundle gives you both books for the longer version: The 90-Day Discipline Blueprint supplies follow-through with weekly steps, a printable tracker and a restart plan. 7 Steps to Change Your Life supplies direction, helping you decide what deserves that follow-through. 25% off with code 25off.

Which quit point are you at?

Watch for three: week 3 boredom, the missed-week spiral, and the "no progress" dip.

For boredom, choose one small enjoyable variation while keeping your planned attendance cue. That might mean choosing different music. You can change that detail without replacing the whole plan.

The other two need different decisions. After a missed week, what exactly do you return to? When progress feels absent, what can your attendance record actually tell you?

What's in the member section

  • The Workout Ladder: Fill in full / normal / minimum versions of your own workout. Output: three predefined options and one rule for choosing today's version.

  • The Missed-Week Restart Plan: Remove catch-up debt and prepare your return. Output: one booked restart session with its selected ladder version.

  • The 4-Week Tracker: Record planned sessions and completed versions. Output: a visible commitment record and one adjustment for next week, with a review for the "no progress" dip.
